Collection includes letters from William King Richardson to his family (the majority of the correspondence is to his mother) about his undergraduate life at Oxford, including his membership in the St. Vincent's Club, the Balliol Eights crew team, and the "Mods" and "Greats" academic curricula. Richardson's travels in England and to the continent with his mother, his sisters Grace and Fanny, and Uncle Roland Lincoln ("Uncle Dudley") are also described in his letters. Furthermore the collection includes academic materials accumulated by Richardson: class journals; rule books; admission information; examination documents; honors and awards; club records; and lecture lists. Additionally contains materials relating to Richardson's personal collection of manuscripts, incunabula, and other printed materials. This includes collection lists of specific types of materials and a copy of his library catalog, as well as numerous bookplates.

The son of Henry L. Richardson and Frances M. (Lincoln) Richardson, William King Richardson (1859-1951)was a lawyer and book collector. His library was left to the Houghton Library at Harvard. Roland Lincoln was his uncle. Richardson graduated from Harvard College in 1880 and went abroad with his family that summer, intending to travel with them, but instead he was persuaded to begin at Oxford that fall.
